Fall Athletic Meeting 8/01/06

(3)  Refund Rule passed:

Refund of Registration Fees will be granted from registration date through first conference game played by player's team.
After the first conference game has been played, no refunds will be issued.
Motion made by Keith Miller.   Motion seconded by Becky Clark.     Motion passed.

Athletic members gave approval for the SCCHEA Athletic Treasurer to pay officials before the evening begins so they are 
free to leave at their convenience at the end of the night. Several schools in the league already do this.


(4)  Administrators who will be assigned to monitor Sportsmanship Policies (see Item #9):

(5)  Officers for the 2006-2007 academic year are:

(6)  Officials for Christ will be used exclusively for ACC regular season & tournament games.
(7)  Must notify conference two (2) weeks prior to season beginning if teams do not form. Violators would forfeit the right to play that sport for the following season or pay a $200 penalty.
(8)  One (1) week notice is required for cancellations or forfeits. Violators will be penalized the cost of officials for the game. Weather related postponements or cancellations are not included in this rule.

(9)  Sportsmanship Policy:
Motion passed to establish a written policy concerning sportsmanship in the conference. As Christians, we must strive to be different from the world—not the same. Therefore:

o An administrator from each participating organization will be designated at the beginning of each event.

o There will be no yelling of any kind against an opponent during serves in Volleyball and free throws in Basketball.

o Fans or players will not be derogatory in any way toward a player, coach or referee (including calling players or coaches by name).

? First offense—warning.

? Second offense—side out (Volleyball) or technical foul (Basketball) for players or coaches and removal from the gym for fans.

o Abuse of officials, coaches or players (verbal or otherwise) will not be tolerated during or after an Arkansas Christian Conference event.

o These guidelines will also be added to the Arkansas Christian Conference Rules of Conduct read by officials before each ACC event.

o The votes of conference coaches will choose one organization each year to receive an Overall Sportsmanship Award.

 

(10)  Conference Membership Fee:
Motion passed to require conference member organizations to pay a fee for conference membership that will be used to finance all postseason tournaments including officials and regular/post season individual/team awards. In addition, ACC tournament hosts will pay 20% of the gate to the conference and retain the remainder of the gate, as well as concessions, to cover the cost of facilities or other costs associated with the tournament. 
The ACC Secretary will be paid $1,000 for facilitation of the tournaments. 
The fee for 2006-2007 will be $1,200 per organization, with the amount to be reviewed annually.  
Payments may be made in 3 equal installments due 9/01, 11/01, and 2/01.
A 10% penalty will be assessed after a 10 day grace period.
Note: Soccer was not included in the conference fee formula.

(11)  Game Summary:
Motion passed to require submission of a “Game Summary” to the conference within 24 hours after the event. This summary will include:

o The participants

o The score of the game

o A list of the officials

o A list of all technical fouls, unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and ejections (The official should designate each occurrence as conduct or non-conduct related.—Added from a later motion)

o Any additional comments regarding the game

o An overall rating for coach, player and fan conduct by the official—(Added from a later motion).

o Game or individual highlights (requested but not required)

(12)  Girls Soccer:
Motion made to start Girls Soccer in the ACC with a three week schedule at the beginning of March and possibly shortening the softball season. Motion died for lack of 2nd. Teams will be formed and games will be played with the organizations interested.

(13) Grade Limits were added:
Elementary: must be in 6th grade or below
Junior High: must be in 9th grade or below
Senior High: subject to age guidelines

Meeting began at 6:30pm.
Meeting ended at 7:05pm.
